Martha “Marty” Louise (Johnson) Soderman, 66, of Goffstown, NH, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Marty was born August 1, 1954 in Worcester, MA and was a daughter of the late Stanley Johnson and Martha (Koski) Breault. She was raised and educated in Worcester and eventually settled in Londonderry, NH to raise her family, most recently relocating to Goffstown.
Marty retired from a 30+ year career in the grocery industry this past summer. Marty loved her job and her “work” family as much as her own, and always knew how to put a smile on everyone’s faces. She was a well-respected manager, friend, and colleague to all those she touched throughout her career.
Marty is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Wayne H. Soderman of Goffstown, a son, Eric W. Soderman of Goffstown, a daughter and her husband, Emily A. and Keith F. Zybert of Haverhill, MA, two beloved grandchildren, Anna and Claire, a brother, Kenneth W. Johnson of Apache Junction, AZ, a cousin, Susan J. Stockman of Derry, NH, as well as many members of her extended family.
Marty’s biggest passion was her family and friends. She was a social butterfly, the life of the party, an endless planner and organizer, and most importantly, the glue that kept her whole family together—a family matriarch. She loved cooking big family dinners, spending summer days at the beach, and was always the first person to volunteer to help friends and family in need. She loved to chat on the phone, and made her daily rounds to those closest to her. In recent years, she adored being a “Nana” and spending time with her two young granddaughters. All of those who knew Marty say she had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Her personality was larger than life and she was a true caretaker.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, after cremation, a private burial will be held by the family at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date in the spring or summer. Marty would accept nothing less than a big party in her honor, full of laughter, fond memories, and plenty of food and drink! The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry are assisting the family.
