Lorraine R. Twomey
Former Special Needs Advocate
DRACUT: Lorraine R. “Momsie” (Sharp) Twomey, age 94, a resident of Dracut for the past 18 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Saturday, December 12, 2020.
She was the beloved wife of John M. Twomey, who passed away on March 31, 2002.
Born in the Charlestown area of Boston on May 4, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mildred (Orpen) Sharp.
Lorraine was raised in Charlestown, and attended Charlestown schools.
In 1955, she moved to Tewksbury, where she and her late husband raised their family.
While living in Tewksbury, Lorraine was an active member of the St. William’s Parish, where she assisted with the Drill Team known as the “Orbiteers”
She was a longtime volunteer and supporter the Recreational Adult Resource Association (RARA). Lorraine was instrumental in garnering the support to provide bus transportation to educational programs for special needs children.
Lorraine was the mother of Diane P. Naves and her late husband Manuel of Peabody, John D. Twomey of Dracut, Lorraine R. Sheehan and her husband Joseph, with whom Lorraine resided in Dracut, and Genevieve Parasole and her husband Ralph of Dracut. She leaves her grandchildren, Michael Naves and his wife Shannon, Manny Naves and his wife Ashley, Melinda Madruga and her husband Michael, Melissa Sheehan, Jennifer Lane and her husband Jonathan, Nicole Sheehan, Brian Sheehan and Ashley Salois, Erika Angluin and her husband Mark, and Anthony Parasole; her great grandchildren, Jordon, Jacob, Joe and Jack Lane, Jason Polk, Steven Currier, Alexis Page, Julia and Brian Sheehan, Jeffrey and Juliana Madruga, Lily, Bella, and Markie Angluin, and Josephine Parasole; her sister-in-law, Mildred Twomey; many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was the sister of the late Edmund Sharp.
