Jean Shipley, 91, went home to be with The Lord, peacefully on December 15, 2020, in her home in Ventura, CA. Jean was born April 23, 1929 in Southside Montgomery County near Clarksville, Tennessee. She arrived in Ventura as a new bride of Otis Lee Shipley on January 11, 1946 (married 53 1/2 years until his death). When she saw Ventura, she fell in love with it and told people she never planned on leaving. Otis and Jean had their first son, Jerel Wayne Shipley in 1949, and Richard Lee Shipley in 1952. They bought a house in Ventura in 1955, and they both lived there for the rest of their lives. Jean enjoyed traveling, camping and playing cards with her friends, decorating cakes, and calligraphy. She volunteered for 35 years at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in the horticulture building organizing the African Violet Society Exhibit.
Jean is survived by her loving son, Richard Shipley, of Ventura, CA; grandson, Brian Shipley and daughter-in-law, Joyce Shipley, of Gig Harbor, Washington; cousin, Lois Maxwell and family, of Oregon; and cousin, Merrel Denison and family of Oregon.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Lee Shipley; her son Jerel Wayne Shipley; her grandson, Scott Wayne Shipley; and her brother, Tommy Coke.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening December 28, 2020 from 5 to 8pm. If you would like to attend please contact the family. Family and friends are invited to Funeral Services to be held on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at 12 Noon at the canopy of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street Ventura. Masks and social distancing are required. Interment will then immediately follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
