Wanda Dowdy McLemore, 74, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Arbor Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the sanctuary.
Mrs. McLemore was born August 9, 1946, in Worth County, Georgia to the late Glenn & Lorene Hawkins Dowdy. She was a 1964 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and later received her Associate’s Degree from South Georgia College. Mrs. McLemore was a secretary and retired from the University of Georgia Extension Service. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and overseeing the yard maintenance. Mrs. McLemore was the President of the Pink Ladies at Dorminy Medical Center and a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Bobby Lamar McLemore; four sons: Marc Peacock & Didi Dorman of Chula, Brent Peacock & Dana of Fitzgerald, Lance Luke & Deidre of Fitzgerald and Brett McLemore & Wendy of Tifton; 15 grandchildren, and two sisters: Bette Jean Walsh of Blackshear and Genita Cohen & Bill of Wilmington, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Glennette Latham and Geraldine Harris and her second husband, Gerald Luke.
