Obituary

Lawrence J. "Jack" Lobo, 79, of New Bedford died Sunday, December 13, 2020.
He was the husband of the late Cynthia (Pina) Lobo.
Jack was born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Laurencio J. and Dominga (Neves) Lobo; he lived in New Haven, CT many years before retiring to Plymouth in 1983 before returning to New Bedford in 2016, to live with his amazing daughter and son-in-law.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Jack worked for many years at Winchester Repeating Arms in New Haven, CT & Remington Repeating Arms in Hingham, MA
His hobbies included; spending time with his grandchildren, landscaping and fishing.
For many years he was a Mason and a member of the Social Harmony Temple.
Survivors include his daughters; Jacqueline Lobo of Decatur GA, Darlene Lobo-Friedland and her husband Gregory Friedland of New Bedford; his son, Barrie Lobo and his wife Rosale of Orange, CT; 9 Grandchildren, Morgan Friedland, Barrie Friedland, Brian Lobo, Shelby Friedland, Courtney Battle, Jaoquim Lobo, Ashley Battle, Roy Lobo and Frank “Trey” Battle lll; 6 brothers, Everett "Tim" Lobo, John Lobo, Michael Lobo and Franklin Lobo, all of New Bedford, Charlie Lobo of Taunton and Wayne Lobo of Mashpee; 5 sisters, Rose Lobo and Jean Santos, both of New Bedford, Roberta Lobo-Lopes of Clinton, NC, Christine Mitnaul of Columbus, OH and Carol Lowe of Columbia, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Peter Lobo and Mary Lobo.
His visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 18th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Due to Covid-19, his funeral Mass on Saturday will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in our father’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Please be advised that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are strict guidelines that must be adhered to for the safety of everyone. You MUST wear a mask to be allowed entry to the services. Please practice social distancing and avoid any close contact. Guests will be permitted to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter. Capacity at the funeral home will be limited so there could be wait times outside the funeral home. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
