John Edward “Jack” Crane, age 67, of Boston passed away on Saturday, December 12. Born in Cambridge, raised in Somerville and Medford, graduating from Medford High School and Northeastern University. He was the son of the late Virginia (DiSilva) Crane and Edward J. Crane. Jack settled in Boston in 1989 and built many special connections and friendships doing what he loved, helping others. He loved Boston sports, especially his Tom Brady and the Patriots, and he was passionate about politics. He was an animal lover and was devoted to his pets. Most of all, Jack enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He loved gardening and cooking with his husband Allen, and spending time with his children and grandchildren and he was there for them whenever he was needed. Most recently, Jack adored spending time with his youngest grandchild Kendrick who affectionately calls him "Babop".
Jack was the beloved husband of Allen (Stearns) Crane, and the devoted father of Regan (Crane) Feinman and her husband Josh of Somerville, Michael Crane of Boston, Jamie West and his wife Liz of Billerica, and Laura O'Neal and her husband Brian of Wilmington. He was the loving grandfather of Kendrick, Nicholas, Cameron, Ally, Dillon, Samantha, Austin, Tayla and Christian, and the dear brother of Karen "Sis" Brisbois and her husband Joseph of Wilmington, brother and best friend Edward J. Crane Jr. of Boston, and the late Russell Crane and his surviving wife Linda of Winchester. Jack is also survived by his former wife, and mother of his children Arlene Orso, his lunch date and Aunt Gloria "GoGo" and Aunt Elena, as well as many loving cousins, and special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 16th at 11:15 AM in Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may gather inside the main gate between 11 AM and 11:15 AM. Social distancing protocols, including mask wearing, will be observed throughout the services. Visiting hours will be private. As an expression of sympathy contributions may be sent in Jack’s name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.aspca.org.
