Alex C. “A. C.” "Shorty" Woods, 92, of Tifton passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Corinth Baptist Church in Brookfield with the Rev. Marshall Kennedy officiating. Mr. Woods will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens with his nephew, the Rev. Johnny Woods, officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Corinth Baptist Church in Brookfield from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Covid-19 protocol will be observed during the visitation and service.
Darrell Woods, Roger Woods, David Parkerson, Johnny Parkerson, Kenny Tucker and Gary Tucker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Blanchard, Larry Walker and Donald Woods.
Born May 31, 1928 in Irwin County, Mr. Woods was the son of the late Jonah Burgman Woods and Annie McMillan Woods. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mattie Lou Monk Parkerson Woods; two step-sons, Johnny Parkerson and Albert Parkerson; and one step-daughter, Joann Hayes. Before retiring, he was a farmer and worked in maintenance for the Tift County School System. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Brookfield.
Mr. Woods is survived by one step-son, Henry Parkerson of Enigma; one step-daughter, Faye Tawzer of Brookfield; one sister, Jonnie Tucker of Tallahassee, Florida; and eleven grandchildren.
