Shirley M. Wordell, 91, of Westport, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the wife of the late Richard H. Wordell.
Mrs. Wordell was born in Dartmouth, daughter of the late Bertha M. (Green) Tavares and step-daughter of the late Manuel C. Tavares, and was a longtime resident of Westport. She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, Class of 1947. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at the Westport Family Medicine for many years and later served as the Shine Volunteer at the Westport Council on Aging. She loved all handcrafts, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the friendships she had with the Gabettes and was an active member of the Westport Point United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church quilters.
She is survived by her daughters: Ann Choquette of Dartmouth, Kathleen and Albert Corbeil of Westport and Deborah and Stanley Zatkowski of Franklin; her sister: Barbara Mullen; and her brother: David Tavares. She was loved by her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Alan Wordell and sister of the late Robert Tavares.
Private services will be held.
