LOWELL John "Jack" Daley, 77, of Lowell, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at Tufts Medical Center.
Born August 9, 1943, in Lowell, he was a son of the late John R. Daley and the late Martha J. (Townsend) Daley, High Priestess of Eastern Star. He was raised in the Highlands Section of the City and educated in the local schools. He currently made his home in the Centralville Section of the City.
Mr. Daley enjoyed singing and listening to Country music. He also enjoyed spending time at the former Lone Star Ranch in Saugus.
In his younger days, he was a choir boy, worked at Anton’s Cleaners, and also worked for the Lowell Sun Newspaper before becoming a taxi driver in the Lowell and surrounding areas for more than fifty years, more recently for Town Taxi right up until the pandemic. John will be fondly remembered for his friendly, funny, sarcastic, and witty personality, which made his job of cab driver so enjoyable because he loved meeting and interacting with new people.
His survivors include his children, Lisa A. Reid of Lowell and Mandy J. Daley and her fiancee, Shuman Ahmed, of Lowell; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; as well as his many many friends.
He is predeceased by his former wife Yvonne Linda-Marie Daley, and was the father in law of the late John A. Reid.
While practicing social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask, you are invited to His Visitation 3 until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15 at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
