TEWKSBURY William A. “Bill” Wareham, 97, active in Tewksbury, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved widower of the late Mary Ann (Gunther) Wareham, with whom he celebrated 28 year of marriage before her passing in 2002.
He was born in Jamestown, ND on March 4, 1923 and was a son of the late Joseph W. and the late Elizabeth (Towes) Wareham. At a young age traveled quite a bit with his family , he was educated in North Dakota, Nebraska and California.
Mr. Wareham enlisted with the United States Navy, during WWII and proudly served his country for 22 years until his honorable discharge.
Bill was in the Piledriver’s Local Union 56. He was a member of the GAC and active in the Tewksbury playground improvement project on Livingston Street. He served on the Council of Aging as well as the Sr. Center building committee.
Bill is survived by his children, William A. Wareham Jr. and his wife, Linda (Downs) of Tewksbury, Christina “Tina” Ntapalis of Billerica,; and his stepchildren, Mark J & Gayle Fraser of Burlington, VT and Maury M. Tooley, of Arlington, VT. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandaughter.
He was welcomed into heaven by his first wife Stella Jean Wareham who passed away in 1965, the late John P. Wareham as well as his infant son Christopher Wareham; his stepson, the late Kevin J. Frasier; and his Siblings, the late Susan Ames, Evelyn Vickers, Hazel Moulat, Mark Wareham, Sylvester Wareham, Robert Wareham, Waldo Wareham, Harry Wareham, Vernon Wareham, Ralph Wareham and Jessie Jane Wilson.
