Obituary




Worcester – Wallace A. Westerberg, 81, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9th in Casa de Ramana Rehabilitation Center in Framingham after a brief illness.

Mr. Westerberg is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith (Harrison) Westerberg; a daughter, Donna Freitas and her husband, Albert of Auburn; two sons, Richard Westerberg and his wife, Cathy of East Longmeadow and Thomas Westerberg and his wife, Jean of Wilmington; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Baker, Daniel Lane, Lauren Cutter and Chelsey Westerberg; 5 great grandchildren, Cody, Kaitlynn, Jesslynn, Jordan, Tori, and his loving dog Bear.

Wallace was born in Worcester, son of the late David and Myrtle (Wiegert) Westerberg and is also predeceased by two brothers and a sister. He graduated from South High School and then entered the United States Navy proudly serving his country.

Mr. Westerberg worked his entire career in the food industry as a meat salesman. Wallace worked for the Boston Beef Company and later retired from Columbia Farms. He belonged for many years to the former Main South American Legion Post #318 in Worcester.

Wallace met the love of his life Judy when he was 13 and she was 12 and they lived most of their life on College Hill in Worcester. They were often surrounded by family and friends. Wally frequented many local golf courses with his group of friends that were referred to as “The Growlers”.

Funeral services for Mr. Westerberg were held privately with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Roch’s Church, Oxford celebrated by his cousin, Rev. Michael Roy. Burial will take place in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester at a later date. If you wish to view the funeral mass, please visit his obituary on the funeral home website.
