Obituary

Demetrios Konstantakos, 83, of New Bedford passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
He was the husband of Mary (Ramos) Konstantakos with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Peter and Mary (Panagiotakos) Konstantakos, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by Charlie's Hot Dog Stand on Acushnet Ave while he attended the New Bedford Vocational High School. Later in life he worked as a custodian for the Oxford School, and as the Senior Custodian for East Fairhaven Grammar School. At these jobs he earned the nicknames "Jimmy the Greek" and "Mr. K".
Demetrios loved to cook and spend time with his family.
He served proudly in the U.S. Army 65th ORD. Detach EOD. in Fort Williams, Maine.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marianne Konstantakos and her partner Allen Bowen of New Bedford, and Jaime Santos and her husband Chris, of New Bedford ; his grandchildren Deana Santos, Brian Konstantakos, Christopher D. Santos, and Alyssa Santos; and two great-grandchildren, Ayden Lopes, and Brian Konstantakos, Jr; and his sisters-in-law Jennie, Diana, and Irene Konstantakos.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Gregory, Nicholas, Michael, and George Konstantakos, Helen Pappas, and Cleopatra Perperas.
His funeral services will be private.
