Dorothy E. (Bashall) Chace Tremblay, 86, passed away Dec. 6, 2020 at Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, her residence of the past 8 years. There she continued practicing her lifelong Catholic faith until Alzheimer’s disease prevented her from doing so. Born to Richard and Lumina (Dube) Bashall in Brooklyn, NY, Dorothy grew up in Fall River with her two siblings, sister Joan and brother, Richard Jr. After marriage she lived and raised her family for many years in Somerset, moved to Dighton then Westport and once her children were grown, South FL returning to Westport in 2010.
Dorothy was preceded in death by the love of her life, William P. Chace with whom she had seven children; William P. (Carol Borden) Chace Jr., Dianna L. (Don Davidson) Chace-Davidson, Thomas R. (Pam Peckham) Chace, Paul R. (Lisa Bibeau) Chace, Russell K. (June Bard) Chace, Donald C. (Michelle Patrie) Chace and Jeffrey J. (Lisa Ryan) Chace. She was blessed with and loved 12 grandchildren; William’s Eric and Joshua, Dianna’s Christian and Jocelyn, Paul’s Larissa, Russell’s Heather and Kirstin, Donald’s William, Allen, Chris and Nicole, Jeffrey’s Brian and Nathan and 10 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her late-life partner and second husband, Herve E. Tremblay, whose family welcomed her with open arms and she enjoyed being part of.
Dot, as most referred to her, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother which were her life’s most cherished roles. Over the years, she worked outside of the home in various capacities enjoying a variety of positions in the greater Fall River area and beyond. Immensely talented and determined to succeed, Dot excelled as a “Jill of All Trades.” Adventurous enough to accompany her “Captain Bill” on offshore fishing trips, she was always expanding on her talents in homemaking as well as strategies for fun and success in card playing and cribbage among other leisure activities she had an intense interest in. Dot had a passion for life on her own terms and lived hers just that way.
No services will take place at this time with a private memorial celebration to be scheduled at a later date.
