OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Kathleen Mahala Chabe, 91, of School Street, passed away on December 8, 2020 at her residence. She was born March 19, 1929 in Old Orchard, the daughter of Edward H. and Martha B. Townsend.
Upon graduating from Old Orchard Beach High School in 1947, Kathleen moved to New York City where she worked for American Airlines and also as an aesthetician for Charles of the Ritz. She then moved to the West Coast and started a family. Kathleen and her family moved back to Old Orchard Beach in 1963. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, crafting, and gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Chabe, and by two brothers, Edward and Bruce Townsend. Kathleen leaves behind four daughters, April Witcraft of Millbrae, California, Autumn Adams of Biddeford, Kelly Witcraft of Old Orchard Beach, and Mona Barker of East Waterboro, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Spring.
