Obituary

FALL RIVER - Irene J. Rezendes, 79, and her husband Antone Rezendes, Jr., 80, passed on November 30, 2020 and December 1, 2020 respectively, from a brief illness at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Both born in Fall River, Irene was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Rego) Tavares and Antone was the son of the late Antone and Rose (Cabral) Rezendes.

Irene and Tony were married in 1961 and were devoted to their family including their fur-baby Lyla. Irene was a retired textile worker and Tony was a retired truck driver. They spent all of their free time together and enjoyed riding their Honda Goldwing and later, riding the highways in their 1962 Chevy II Nova. They shared their love of the road, cars and motorcycles with their daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, watching and talking about racing together. Tony enjoyed working on projects with his family in their garage and encouraging their grandchildren’s careers and hobbies in motorsports and motorcycles. Irene was devoted to her family and was happiest when talking and laughing with the people she loved. Their lives revolved around their close circle of family and friends.

Irene and Tony are survived by their daughters, Lori Ann Lebeau and her husband Billy of Tiverton, RI, and Rosemary Blanchette and her husband Lonnie of Westport, MA. They are also survived by their grandchildren, Shelly Lebeau, Stacy Lebeau and Lonnie W. Blanchette; their great -granddaughter Autumn Rose Lebeau; along with many nieces and nephews; Irene’s brother Raymond Tavares; Antone’s sisters, Irene Pavao and brother-in-law Larry; and Georgina Mello. They were pre-deceased by their brother-in-law, Robert Mello.

Visitation will be held on Sun., Dec. 13 at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River from 4-6 PM. A graveside service will be held on Mon., Dec. 14 at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Epilepsy Foundation, https://www.epilepsy.com; Forever Paws, https://www.foreverpaws.com; or to a charity of your choice.
