Evelyn M. (McNamara) Murray, a longtime resident of Saugus and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, December 7, 2020 at her home in Saugus. She was 83 years of age.
Evelyn was born in Boston on June 30, 1937, a daughter of the late Margaret (Mainey) McNamara. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. She moved to Saugus in 1967 and raised her four sons in the same family home where she spent her final days with her children and grandchildren. Evelyn always supported her boys' interests in sports, music and travel and the radio was always on in the kitchen on Hobson Street. She was a world traveler and enjoyed many camping trips with her family, as well as special outings antique shopping or pulling over to search for treasures at a local yard sale, with a particular interest in collecting hummels. She loved musical theatre, concerts, bowling and Zumba. Evelyn was proud to have worked at Caldor in Saugus for many years and made lasting friendships with many who worked with her. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her many lifelong friends going on weekend trips, outings to the movies or simply having lunch or tea. Evelyn was loved by many and exhibited strength in the face of adversity. She told beautiful stories of her time in Charlestown & her travels with Russell. She always provided unconditional support for her family with a calm and cool demeanor. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Evelyn is the beloved wife of the late Russell H. "Raz" Murray. She is the devoted mother of Shawn Murray, Russell Murray and his wife Kathryn, Timothy Murray and his wife Kristine and the late Brian M. Murray. She is the loving Nanny to Griffin, Colin and Julia. She is the beloved sister of the late Richard McNamara and Edmund McNamara. She is also survived by her several Godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evelyn's Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 758 Salem St. Lynnfield. Her burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. There are no funeral home visiting hours. (MASKS ARE REQUIRED INSIDE CHURCH.)
