CHICOPEE – Robert R. “Bob” Bolduc, 85, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, December 6, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on Shepherd Street in Chicopee on February 21, 1935, a beloved son of the late Ovila G. and Emilda (Belanger) Bolduc. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Vocational School and was a lifelong resident of the city. Bob served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Airman First Class. His unit was later reactivated and he served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked as a Civil Service Jet Engine Mechanic at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee. He enjoyed going to the South Hadley Senior Center where he volunteered many hours of his time and enjoyed playing cards with his many friends. He was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he was a hardworking man who loved his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Helena J. “Lena” (McHugh) Bolduc who was Called Home on July 26, 2018. They were married on June 6, 1959 at Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. He leaves his six loving children, David M. Bolduc of Ludlow, Debra A. Salamon and her husband, Doug, of Belchertown, Steven R. Bolduc of Fargo, ND, James B. Bolduc of Ludlow, Sheila M. Bolduc of Ludlow, and Kathleen M. Bolduc of Chicopee; his four cherished granddaughters, his five cherished great-grandchildren; his dear brother, George Bolduc of Westfield; his dear sister, Rita Grandmont of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Bolduc and McHugh families and numerous friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his dear daughter-in-law, Susan M. (Capistrant) Bolduc who was Called Home on June 20, 2019; and his nine dear siblings. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001 (please note that the church and cemetery have limited capacity, face masks must be worn and social distancing must be observed per state guidelines).
