Robert F. Fontaine, Sr., 74, of Echol Road, in Glocester, died Monday, December 7, 2020 at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Charlotte (Bishop) Sherman-Fontaine.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was a son of Aurelien and Margette (Veland) Fontaine. He had lived in Chepachet for the past 27 years and had previously lived in Woonsocket.
Bob was a blacksmith for Byrd Machine for 26 years before retiring. He later worked for Drone Ambulance, where he later volunteered to transport the seniors to the bingo at the Glocester Senior Center, where he also volunteered his time. He was a volunteer at the Red Cross.
He enjoyed woodworking, especially building bird houses, ducks and wishing wells. He loved being outside, feeding the ducks and birds and watching them.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Robert F. Fontaine, Jr. of Bellingham, MA, his grandchildren: Christine and Robert Fontaine, his siblings: Pat Deslaurier, Lorriene Bodwell, Edgar, Jerry and Donald Fontaine and many nieces and nephews. he was the brother of the late Jean Trank, Richard and Paul Fontaine.
Bobby was a loving husband, very giving and caring person. He will be sadly missed.
