Douglas S. Jefferson, 66, of Kingston, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020 after a 35 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Douglas graduated from the University of Vermont ROTC in 1976 with degrees in mathematics and finance. He enlisted in the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and joined the Infantry Tank corps in Germany. Douglas became an Army Ranger during his enlistment. He then moved to finance departments within the Army retiring a Captain in 1985. He continued his career in finance at The Bank of New England.
Skiing was a passion and he was on the ski patrol at Mount Whittier in NH. He also enjoyed swimming, water skiing, boating, traveling and exploring. He was a compassionate man who enjoyed life and making others smile. He was a member of the Masons, giving back to the community and even leading his local chapter for a time. Later in life, he joined the Shriners Clowns, making balloon animals for hospitalized children and their families. He was an avid storyteller, a packrat, and incredibly handy at whatever he put his mind to, be it building a tree house or fixing a carburetor. He was an average singer, an excellent coach, and a terrible cook, but his pancakes were perfect. He had a soft spot for animals, rescuing dogs and cats throughout his life to share his home. He loved being outdoors, especially in winter, and loved living in New England.
He is survived by his, mother Charlotte, brother David and sister Judy, two children, Michael and Michelle, three grandchildren, three nieces, a nephew and long time friend, Catherine Fitzpatrick.
Services will be held at a future date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
