Obituary

John Garde, Jr., 85 of Franklin, Massachusetts died peacefully surrounded by his family on December 5, 2020. An avid golfer, the only thing John loved more than being on the golf course was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A gentle soul, John worked as an Amtrak conductor for over 30 years and spent his retirement watching his grandkids’ sports and school events, traveling and spending time with his wife and love of his life Adele Bernadette who he has been with for over 59 years.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on April 26, 1935 he was the son of John and Jean Garde. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Adele Bernadette Garde; His children Christopher Garde and his wife Fatima of Carver, Jennifer Thompson and her husband Mark of Franklin; His beloved grandchildren Clara, Daniel, Jonathan, Michael, Nicole and Mark Anthony; and his great-granddaughter Harmony.

A true and dedicated fan, he never missed watching a Boston Celtics game, and loved following horse racing and professional golf.
A hard worker who made it his priority to provide for his family, he worked as a golf caddy, high end waiter, chef/restaurant owner, railroad freight worker, railroad conductor and side by side with his wife during retirement as a breakfast host.

John graduated from business school and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
