Obituary

William Edward Brown, Sr., 78, of New Bedford departed this earth of Friday November 27, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Born in Racine, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Edward Brown and Hazel Kohler.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Bill was employed as a New Bedford firefighter for 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed cooking and working with his fellow firefghters. He also worked as a realtor for Pelletier Realty both before and after his retirement. Bill never stayed still, always working a second job from a cement truck to an oil truck.

Bill will always be remembered for his smile and kindness. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He enjoyed camping, country music, cooking, deer hunting, traveling in his motor home, and driving his golf cart with his granddaughter, Maya.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Rego) Brown; his son, William Brown, Jr. of Wareham; his daughter, Kristi (Brown) Conchinha and husband Roy of West Plains, MO; his siblings, Ruth Kirk and Dean Schlosher, both of Wisconsin; his sister-in-law, Deborah Branquinho of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Maya Brown of Wareham, Jenna Racine and Richard Racine-Martin, both of West Plains, MO, and Thomas Racine of Pawtucket, RI; and several nieces and nephews in Wisconsin.

He was predeceased by his sister, Jo-Ann Brown and his great-granddaughter, Ariel Racine.

His visitation will be held on Monday December 14, 2020 from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. A private family burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
