Obituary

Benvinda (Leon Ramos) Rose, 92, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday December 1, 2020 at home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Aguinel A. Rose.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joaquim and Anna (Barros) Leon Ramos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Mrs. Rose was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where she was a member of the St. Martin de Porres Guild.

She was formerly employed as a foster grandparent at the Congdon School.

She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox.

She is survived by four children, Michael Rose and his wife, Maria of Marietta, GA, David Rose, Carol Rose Wills, and Jeffrey Rose, all of New Bedford; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Robert P. Rose, grandmother of the late Olivia Fisher-Rose, and sister of the late John Ramos, Beatrice Ramos, Mary Galvin, Louise Cruz, and Charlotte Figueiredo.

Due to current gathering restrictions, a private family funeral service was held on Friday December 4, 2020. Burial followed in St. John’s Cemetery . A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at a later date. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
