Erin McLean Buckland passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving. She was 43 years old. Devoted mother to Brianna. Beloved daughter to John and Diane McLean; Sister to Kim McLean (Exeter, NH) and Jonathan McLean (Andover, MA). Erin was born in Lowell, MA.
Erin graduated from Lowell High School in 1995. She was a member of the cross-country team and had a passion for running. Erin was often seen running far from home, all over the city of Lowell. If Erin was going somewhere, she was running.
Erin attended Long Beach Community College in California. She returned to MA to be with her sweetheart, Michael Buckland who she later married.
Erin attended NH Tech College for Massage Therapy and worked as Massage Therapist for Ashley Paige. She also continued business classes at Middlesex Community College and Nashua Community College.
Erin and Michael resided in Nashua for their married life (2002-2017). On December 20, 2005, Erin became a mother. Being a mother to Brianna was her greatest joy and accomplishment.
Erin made her dearest friends attending school in Lowell- Deana Young Borecki, Angela Ryan Morales, Sarah Flynn Donovan, Renee Surprenant Moazeni, Erica Malavich-McCumber and the late Becky Bennett Swenson - to name a few.
These friends, and all who knew and loved Erin, will tell you what an amazing sense of humor she had. She would do anything to make people smile; clear a dance floor to do the “Vanilla Ice,” grab a microphone to sing at a wedding, dress up in disguise to pull a prank. Erin had a sparkling smile and infectious laugh.
Beyond making people laugh, Erin was also known for her Heart of Gold. She cared deeply for her friends and family. She was a sensitive, kind soul who would do anything for anyone, especially for anyone who was struggling or down.
Erin has a large extended family including many aunts and uncles and 26 first cousins, plus some special second cousins and many, many friends. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mary E. and Jack Spencer; and her paternal grandparents, Helen and Earl McLean.
It is only right to mention that Erin struggled with depression and anxiety. There needs to be more awareness of mental health issues, because through awareness there can be progress. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Institute of Mental Health.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 4, from 1-2 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by her graveside service at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury.
