Westport – Clarence Donald Edwards, 80, of Pine Hill Road, Westport died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Woodland) Edwards for 58 years.
He was born in Fall River, son of the late Clarence A. and Lillian I. (Lewis) Edwards, and had resided in Westport for the past 54 years. A graduate of the former New Bedford Textile Institute, he served his country during WWII in the United States Army / Air Corps. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Westport, where he served as deacon. Mr. Edwards was the owner/operator of Pine Crest Christmas Tree Farm in Westport and was previously the owner/operator of Pine Crest Mink Farm in Westport. He had also worked at United Merchants Manufacturing Company in Fall River.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son: Paul D. Edwards and his wife Emily of Westport; 2 daughters: Linda R. Shaffer and her husband Jed of Kennesaw, GA and Sara J. Randall and her husband Robert of Westport; 8 grandchildren: Holly E. Pacheco of Fairhaven, Jonathan P. Edwards of Providence, RI, Christopher M. Edwards of Singapore, Andrew E. Shaffer of Wilmington, DE, Matthew A. Shaffer of Cape May, NJ, Thomas R. Shaffer of Kennesaw, GA, Robert C. Randall of Westport and Tina L. Randall of Westport; and several nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend:
A memorial service on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Calvary Bible Church, State Road, Westport at 2:00 P.M.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service on Saturday, March 11, 2006, 1 – 2 P.M.
Interment will be private.
