WEBSTER – Doris M. (Steine) Scheffler, 93, died Monday, November 30, 2020 in Lanessa Extended Care Facility. Her husband of 39 years, Raymond J. Scheffler, died in 1985.
She leaves 2 sons, Ronald Scheffler and his wife Kathy of Quinebaug, CT and Kenneth R. Scheffler, Sr. and his wife Marcy of Dudley; a daughter, Norma Jean Mailloux of Webster; 3 grandchildren, Nichole M. Mailloux-Guinto, Paul Mailloux, Jr. and Kiley Scheffler; 6 great-grandchildren, Joseph Mailloux, Wyatt Mailloux, Sarah Guinto, Olivia Guinto, Maddison Lima and Joshua Lima, Jr.; a sister, Joanne Hasson and her husband Richard of Williamsburg, VA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cecelia Scheffler in 1966, by a grandson, Kenneth R. Scheffler, Jr. in 1993, by her brother Earl Steine and by her sister Katherine “Kass” Moore, and by her son-in-law Paul Mailloux, Sr. in 1995.
She was born on August 24, 1927 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Joseph and Edith (Henson) Steine. Doris married in Baltimore, MD in 1946 and moved to Massachusetts in 1947. Prior to that, she worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a billing clerk. She was also employed at B &W Footwear Company here for 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She liked traveling on bus trips with the Daughters of Isabella. She was an avid numismatist and enjoyed crocheting.
Her funeral will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, December 4, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
