Gilbert R. “Gil” Perron, 81, of North Smithfield died Sunday November 29, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Beverly J. (Gauthier) Perron. They were married on September 11, 1965 and celebrated 55 years together this past September.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Armand T. Perron and Helen (Bourbeau) Perron. He was raised in North Smithfield and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School, Class of 1957.
Mr. Perron served in the United States Navy from 1957 – 1961. His service included being stationed aboard a destroyer escort ship.
Gil earned a certificate in architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). During his career he was employed by Ferland Construction Corporation and later worked for Baker & Conlon Inc. in East Providence and Cranston.
Gil enjoyed carpentry. His love of baseball included being a staunch Detroit Tigers fan. He also especially liked auto racing as well as all things automotive, especially classic cars.
Most of all Gil treasured being with his family. His role as a husband, father and grandfather meant everything in the world to him. Gil’s love for his family will be his lasting legacy.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, his wife Beverly, Gil is survived by a daughter Stacey Forlini and her husband Anthony of Cranston and a son Glenn Perron and his wife Erin of Chepachet. Gil was the proud grandfather of Stephanie and Christina Forlini and Samantha Perron.
Services for Gil were private. He was laid to rest at St. James Cemetery in Manville. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of the wonderful care Gil received memorial donations may be made to Continuum Care Hospice 1350 Division Rd., Suite # 205, West Warwick, RI. 02893.
