SPRINGFIELD – Beverley A. Murphy-Schmitt, 90, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 30, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Bear Mountain of West Springfield surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on February 14, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late George E. and Mabel I. (Shappie) Murphy. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed as an Executive Secretary for the Division of Physical Education at Springfield College and retired in 1992. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed traveling the world. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Jacob B. Schmitt. They were married on October 27, 1979 in Springfield. She also leaves her two loving children, Patricia A. Richard of Springfield and Karl Schmitt and his wife, Cheri, of Bedford, NH; her six cherished grandchildren; her five cherished great-grandchildren; her nephew, George Capaccio; her dear niece, Karen Strachan and her husband, David; her grandniece, Margot; and her many extended family members and friends. Her funeral services and burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
