Michael James Shea, “Mick”, age 92, passed away at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family on Nov 24, 2020. He was born in Springfield on May 30, 1928 to the late Michael and Catherine (Sullivan) Shea. Michael was an Air Force Veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War. He later worked for many years as a tool maker and retired from American Saw in 1992. Michael was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and anyone who knew him knew his passion for both teams. Upon retiring he spent his winter months in The Villages in Florida and welcomed family and friends to visit and stay with him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mick spent many years coaching baseball and loved all sports, especially playing golf. Michael leaves his loving wife of 69 years Barbara (David) Shea of Chicopee; two sons, Michael Shea Jr. and Timothy Shea both of Chicopee; one daughter; Susan Ladue and her husband David of Chicopee; two sisters, Mary Anishik and Jean Bushey both of Chicopee; his sister-in-law Ruth Forest of NH; four grandchildren, Sean Ladue & Matthew Ladue both of Chicopee, Michael Ladue and his wife Ceara of Middletown, CT and Nathan Ladue and his wife Katelyn of East Longmeadow and two great grandchildren, Colin and Gavin Ladue. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by one daughter, Kathy Shea and two sisters, Betty Stillwell and Patricia McInerney. A Funeral Service will be held on Wed, Dec. 2 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Parish 840 Page Blvd., Springfield, MA 01104. Burial with military honors will be private for the family.
