Louise C. (Soares) Fortes, 97, of New Bedford died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 26, 2020.
She was the wife of the late Antone B. Fortes.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Pedro M. and Clara A. (Zacharia) Soares, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Louise was a proud Catholic and a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Louise liked to solve word puzzles, and take care of her grandchildren. Everyone who knew her affectionately called her "Ma".
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Andrade, and Jacqueline Rose and her husband Dennis "Bana", all of New Bedford; her cousin, John Silva; her grandchildren Tracey Berrios, Dennis Berrios, Robert Andrade, Tara Davis and her husband Jay Sparling, Ryan Rose and his girlfriend Amanda Miller, and Eric Rose and his wife Katie; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Robert, Jonas, Alyssa, Scott, Kayli, Arianna, and Phoenix; her best friend for many years, Dot Lopes; and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
She is predeceased by her 10 siblings and her great-granddaughter Felecity Rose.
Her visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2nd, from 3-5 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her funeral services will be private.
