Norine Carol (Dotseth) Martin, age 82, and a 50-year resident of Ventura, California, passed away on November 24, 2020 of natural causes. Norine was born in Inglewood, CA to Walter and Belle Dotseth on November 17, 1938.
She attended Alexander Hamilton High School in LA and graduated in 1956. She went on to have a successful career as an escrow officer for over 30 years, which included 12 years as the owner of Camino Escrow in Ventura.
In 1958, Norine married Lawrence Clark, and together they had two children: Laurie and Jeffrey. Following the conclusion of her first marriage, Norine met and married Alfred “Jay” Martin in 1973.
Norine was active in many organizations including the Ventura Beach Lions Club and Design House. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with her many close friends, attending plays at the Rubicon Theater and hosting Academy Award “Oscar parties.” She also greatly enjoyed her beloved view of the ocean from the home she built in the Ventura Hills.
She is survived by her sister Diana Sornborger of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Laurie DeWeese (Mark), of Ventura, CA; son Jeffrey Clark (John) of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren: Jaclyn DeWeese, Andrew DeWeese, Andrea Ginnett, and Alyssa Seabolt; as well as great-grandchildren: TJ Ginnett, Madelynn and Everett Seabolt, and Phillip DeWeese. Norine was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Belle Dotseth, brother Don Dotseth, sister Patricia Gabrielson, first husband Lawrence Clark, and second husband Jay Martin.
In honor of her prior request, Norine's ashes will be scattered in the ocean off the coast of Ventura. No memorial events are currently scheduled.
