Obituary

Canute Chiverton Jr.

Canute Chiverton, longtime native of Boston, Massachusetts; was born in St. Croix, VI on July 5, 1972. He passed away after a short battle with cancer on November 18, 2020. Canute is survived by his loving children; Canute Jr (CJ), Aria and Kiara Chiverton. His earnest parent’s, Sylvia Chiverton Moore and Canute Chiverton Sr, as well as his step father, Mack Moore; along with his sincere siblings Curt, Kevin and McKeisha; and the families newest member, his one year old nephew, Brixton.

Canute was an incredible man, that left an unforgettable mark on every soul he encountered. He was a free spirit with a passion for life, travel, food, and fashion. At an early age, his sense for fashion was apparent. With inspiration from artists such as Prince and Michael Jackson, he was ahead of his time. His mother signed him up for a modeling agency where he traveled and modeled for different agencies. Canute also had a passion for gymnastics, cars and extreme BMX throughout his teen years. He was a talented graffiti artist as well. His parents once spent a beautiful Saturday morning cleaning his art work off the walls at the high school he went too.

Canute had a special light about him most cannot describe. They knew when he walked into the room that they were in the right place. A Loving father, brother and son; beloved community member, outstanding barber, and faithful friend are just a few ways to describe Canute. He will not be forgotten especially in the South End community where he worked, spent most of his leisure time and supported many local businesses.

More than anything, Canute loved his children and family. Canute always made it a point to have his children and siblings wherever he was. He always made sure that they were taken care of. Even on the worst days, he would still make sure his children were ok. He would constantly ask them about their well being, even if his wasn't up to parOne day on a visit in the hospital, although so weak, he looked at his daughter Aria and said “Aria! Fix your hood!” as her jacket hood was tucked into her collar. Nothing got past him. Canute and CJ aren't just father and son, but the best of friends. The constant natural laughter amongst themselves was something amazing to watch. Canute knew how to be a father and friend simultaneously. His children loved him for that. They will carry on his legacy.

Canute would not go on without thanking his family and partner, Jennifer Grenier. Jen spent the last 9 months caring for Canute. From appointments to ER visits to many sleepless nights, Jen stayed by Canute’s side. Her love for him is something special. She saw him in many different forms and her love remained unconditional.

Your presence we miss, your memories we treasure. Loving you always, forgetting you never.
