E. Lawrence McIntire, 85, of Salem, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, November 16, 2020 at the NSMC/Salem Hospital following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Doris M. (Latulippe) McIntire with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Edmond J. and Margaret E. (Regan) McIntire, Orphaned at a young age, Larry and his siblings managed to stay together as a family. Following high school, He joined the Army and served in Alaska in the late 1950’s. Larry’s passion was for his family and sports. He was Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Salem for31 years, retiring in 2002. Larry will be greatly missed by his family, extended family and great many friends
In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by their four children; Mark L. McIntire of Gloucester, Lisa M. Pultz of Barnstable, Leslie A. Bovardi and husband Keith of Boxford, Christine M. Campbell and husband Eric of Salem as well as nine grandchildren; Kyle & Ashley McIntire, Kayla & Kevin Pultz, Morgan, Taylor & Riley Bovardi and Skye & Brooke Campbell, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard McIntire, Louise Eldridge, Patricia Espinola and Marguerite McVann.
Due to the current pandemic crisis, his services will be private. Larry’s family is planning on a Celebration of his life in the summer of 2021.
