ATKINSON, NH Surrounded by her loving family, Mary Catherine “Mary Kate” Morrill, 25, of Atkinson, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on November 17, 2020 after a three-year long battle with cancer.
Born July 31, 1995, in Lowell, she was the cherished daughter of Timothy J. and Margaret “Peggy” M. (Kane) Morrill. She grew up in Plaistow, NH, and was educated at Timberlane and Salem High School, graduating with the class of 2013. She resided in Atkinson New Hampshire, and was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist in Newton, NH. While working as a Licensed Nursing Assistant at Oceanside Nursing Home in Hampton, NH, she was studying to be a Licensed Practical Nurse at Greater Lowell Regional Technical School in Tyngsboro, MA.
In addition to her parents, Timothy & Margaret, she is survived by her grandparents, Richard Morrill of Wells, ME; Mary (Donovan) Kane of Tewksbury, MA; her sister Kara (Morrill) Hartigan and her husband Thomas of Atkinson, NH; her brother James Morrill and his wife Ellen (Veroneau) of Atkinson, NH; her nieces, Goddaughter Penelope Hartigan, Margaret Hartigan and Goddaughter Evelyn Mary Hartigan and her Godson Elija Taylor. She is survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was also the granddaughter of the late John C. Kane (“Wish you were here”) and Catherine F. (Powers) Morrill, recently deceased November 14, 2020.
Mary Kate, named after two grandmothers and a great grandmother, was an avid reader who delved into all genre of literature, including Hemingway (visiting his house in Key West, FL recently) as well as other historical and contemporary authors. A favorite was Mitch Albom (“Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone”). In her too short life, she was able to travel, touring the UK as well as spending countless hours on the Southern Maine seacoast and Lake Winnipesaukee, always under the watchful eyes of her doting uncles, aunts and numerous older cousins.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her siblings, Kara and Jimmy. She was a constant at her bothers hockey games, barely taller than the rink boards. As all sisters do, she had a special bond with her older sister, a bond enhanced with the arrival of her three nieces, whom Mary Kate adored and was Godmother to two. Despite a mischievous twinkle in her eyes, family and friends alike were touched by Mary Kate’s kind heart, quick wit and generosity of soul . . . an angel on earth called home.
RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND MARY KATE’S LIFE CELEBRATION ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2020 FROM 1P.M. UNTIL 4P.M. AT TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 1 DEWEY STREET, TEWKSBURY, 978-851-2061. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED PRIVATELY ON MONDAY AT THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, LOWELL, MA 01852. BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT ST. MARY CEMETERY IMMEDIATELY FLOLLOWING.
