John R Palombo
Born during the Depression to Margaret and Fred Palombo, John spent most of his life as a resident of North Providence, where he graduated second in his High School class. He also spent time in Narragansett and Naples, Florida
He was married to his faithful wife, Carmella for 71 years. They enjoyed many early mornings at Point Judith and Beavertail together. She with her books and coffee, and him fishing.
In 1944,John volunteered, then reenlisted for an additional year, for the US Air Force where he was stationed in the Philippines as part of the 23rd Bomber Squadron 5th Bombardment group. He was awarded the Philippines independence medal and the World War II victory medal.
John was the founder and owner of Window Fashions, Inc. where he worked until he was 80 years old.
He was an avid sportsman, a member of both the Wanskuck and Lymansville Rod and Gun Clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He golfed three times a week throughout the year until he was 87. He enjoyed watching golf on TV and, of course, his beloved Yankees.
