Mary T. (Pawlik) Finnegan, age 74, of Reading, passed away on November 18, 2020. She was the beloved wife for 43 years of Richard P. “Dick” Finnegan.
Born in Charlestown, Mary was the daughter of the late Frank P. and Mary Catherine Pawlik. She was raised and educated in Medford, and was a graduate of Medford High School. After high school, Mary went right to work for The Hartford Insurance company and was employed there as an insurance underwriter for over 30 years. She was the first woman within the company nationwide to become an underwriter without a college degree. It was at the Hartford that she met the love of her life, Dick, and, after only a few dates, they both knew it was forever.
Mary had a great love of animals and cared for many cats and dogs throughout her life. Also an equestrian, Mary enjoyed riding her horse “Benji” in the Stoneham area Sheepfold recreation area of the Middlesex Fells. She was also an avid reader, often reading a book every week.
In addition to her husband, Dick, Mary is lovingly survived by their son, Rich Finnegan, and his wife Melissa. She also leaves behind a sister Evelyn Pawlik of North Reading; a brother, Frank Pawlik, Jr. of Manchester, NH; and was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Pawlik, of FL.
Mary will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her family and friends. Due to the Covid-19 Precautions, Funeral Services are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the MSPCA-Angell, 350 S. Hungtington Ave., Boston, MA 02130 www.mspca.org.
