Billie Rowland Tucker, 93, of Tifton died Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at her residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Tucker at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Chip Grantham will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Tucker’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Born July 28, 1927 in Tifton, Mrs. Tucker was the daughter of the late Ike Rowland and Georgia Pearl Walker Rowland. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William E. “Bill” Tucker; and one sister, Betty Norris.
Mrs. Tucker retired from the Tift County Board of Education. She was a very active, life-long member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church, where she was very involved with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William Rowland “Bo” Tucker and his wife, Denise of Hahira, and Robert Kirkland “Bob” Tucker and his wife, Maria of Woodstock; one sister, Louise R. Kent of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Matthew Kirkland Tucker and Michael Carter Tucker, both of Woodstock, Kristen Marie Tucker and Tim Brooks of Albany, and Julia Tucker Faucette and her husband, Garrett of Athens.
The Tucker family would like to express a special thank you to Mrs. Tucker’s caregivers, Cassandra Walker and Minnie Cherry for their loving care of Mrs. Tucker.
