Francis X. “Fran” Ellsworth, 65, of Mansfield died on Wednesday March 8, 2006 at The Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. (Rohen) Ellsworth to whom he was wed to on October 29, 1961.
Born in Boston, MA on June 30, 1940 he was a dear son of the late Edward F. and Margaret (Doyle) Ellsworth.
He was educated in Boston schools. Fran worked as an Operator for The MBTA Greenline in Boston for 27 years before retiring in 2002. He was a member of The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 589 in Boston.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. A music lover he enjoyed all types of Music, Country Western being his favorite. He wrote and sang songs and played guitar. He was a member of “The Country Gentlemen” a former band of which he helped form. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He had lived in Mansfield for the past 30 years and was formerly of Jamaica Plain.
Besides his beloved wife Dorothy he is survived by his devoted children Catherine F. Edwards of Attleboro, Donna L. Bontempo and her husband Mark of Franklin, Michael E. Ellsworth and his girlfriend Alison Culley of Mansfield and Kristin M. Bennett and her husband Kenneth of Mansfield. His brother Edwin Ellsworth of Jamaica Plain and the late Paul Ellsworth. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren David, Kaitlyn, Erin and Jake as well as his many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday March11th at 9:30 A.M. from The Sherman & Jackson Funeral home 55 North main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday March 10th from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home
