Obituary

Jane Ellen (Becker) Moy of Walpole, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on November 12, 2020.

Beloved wife of Frank Moy, Jr. for over 40 years.

Devoted mother of Meaghan E. Moy of Dedham, Benjamin F. Moy and his wife Christine of Canton, and Frank R. Moy and his wife Theresa of South Korea.

Loving grandmother of Henry, Noah, Anna, and Lucas.

Sister of Susan Cady and her husband Paul of Denmark, Maine, Richard Becker and his wife Sheila of Dedham, and Stephen Becker of Norwood.

Daughter of the late Richard F. and Mildred F. (Montague) Becker. Daughter-in-law of Flora Moy of Dedham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jane was born and raised in Dedham and graduated from Dedham High School in 1967 and the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1970.

Jane had a long career as a registered nurse, including work as a pediatric nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire. She was also the Head Nurse at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton (now the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children).

Following a hiatus to be a full-time mother, Jane returned to work as a part-time nurse for the Dedham Public Schools.

In 1993, Jane was hired to be the first school nurse at the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) in Dedham (now the Dr. Thomas J. Curran Early Childhood Education Center). Over her many years there, Jane provided compassionate care for thousands of children -- changing many diapers in the process -- and was affectionately known as “Doctor Moy” by staff and students alike. Jane retired from the ECEC in 2014. ?
While a resident of Dedham, Jane was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish. She was a member of St. Mary’s Sodality, and served as Prefect from 1998 to 1999. Jane also served as a Dedham Town Meeting Representative for District One.

Jane was famous for her bright smile, her sense of humor, her blueberry cakes, and the ease with which she could speak with anyone. She was a voracious reader, and a talented knitter and cross-stitcher. One of her favorite things to do was make blankets for the newborn babies of her family and friends. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending summers with family and friends in Maine. But Jane’s greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her four grandchildren.
