Dennis Michael Sunwall, 70, of Somers, N.Y. passed away peacefully at home on November 9th. Born July 12, 1950 in Williston, N.D., Dennis was a graduate of Hillcrest Lutheran Academy and North Dakota State School of Science, and went on to become a master carpenter. Known by his high school friends as “Sunny”, fellow contractors as “Big D” and current co-workers as “the Gentle Giant”, Dennis was loved by all that knew him. Dennis was an active member of his church, serving in many roles, including chairman and elder, and was passionate for people to know Jesus Christ as Lord.
He is predeceased by his parents Lief and Frances (Haverly) Sunwall and father-in-law Rev. Joel Lunde. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cynthia; children Jason & Danielle (LeVineness) Sunwall (grandchildren Jaxon, Kara, Aubrey), Aaron Sunwall and Tami Sunwall; siblings Gregory Sunwall, Dwight & Lana Sunwall, Barbara & Dr. Robert Anderson; mother-in-law Alice Lunde; andmany more in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church (FLBC), 480 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY. Those who wish to remember Dennis in a special way may make gifts to FLBC’s audio/visual or expansion funds.
