Obituary

Florida T. (Dupont) Cormier, 88, of New Bedford passed away Saturday November 7, 2020 at Alden Court Nursing Home from complications of Covid-19. She was the wife of the late George M. Cormier.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph Evano Dupont and the late Florida (Brousseau) Dupont, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mrs. Cormier was formerly employed as secretary at Sacred Heart Church in New Bedford until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of the Holy Name-Sacred Heart Senior Citizens and St. Anthony Senior Citizens. She had been a volunteer for Market Ministries Soup Kitchen.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Alden Court for the care and compassion provided to Florida.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Coutinho and her husband Michael; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Pereira and her husband Joseph; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Ashton Pereira; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Gregory M. Cormier, grandmother of the late Nicholas Coutinho, and sister of the late Ronald Dupont.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private family burial service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
