Steven M. Arena, age 60, of Taunton, formerly of Norton, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at his home on Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Sandra M. (Raposo) Arena.
Born in Attleboro, MA on June 12, 1960, he was a loving son of the late Samuel J., Sr. and Rosalie A. (Austin) Arena.
Steve grew up in Norton, was a 1978 graduate of Norton High School and attended school for electronics. He had made his home in Taunton for over fifteen years.
Prior to retiring, Steve had been employed for many years as a cook at Taunton State Hospital and had previously worked, also as a cook, at Medfield State Hospital. When younger, he assisted his family with the day to day operations at the former Arena’s Auto Parts on Mansfield Avenue in Norton.
Steve loved spending time with his adoring family and of course, enjoyed cooking. He attended Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and will always be remembered for his kindness and the special place in his heart he had for animals.
In addition to his wife, he was the devoted brother of Anthony J. Arena and his wife Helen of Norton, Samuel J. Arena and his wife Jane of Norton and Margaret J. “Peggy” Ware of Taunton, who was pre-deceased by her husband William Ware. He was the dear son-in-law of Virginia Raposo of Taunton and the late Manuel Raposo. He was the brother-in-law of Scott Raposo, Mark Raposo, Michael Raposo and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, November 12th for 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Taunton Memorial Funeral Home, 8 Crapo Street (Off Route 140, Tremont Street) Taunton.
Burial will take privately on Friday, November 13th at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
