SOMERSET – Robert B. Salmond, age 73 of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 in the comforts of his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy A. (Medeiros) Salmond and the son of the late Malcolm G. & Vera A. (Crossley) Salmond.
Prior to retiring, Robert worked 32 yrs. as a forklift operator for General Motors Automobile Plant. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and a member of the US Army Reserves, then the MA Army National Guard.
He is survived by his son: Robert B. Salmond Jr. (fiancée Kerri Fay) of Lincoln, RI; three grandchildren: Lauren, Nathan, & Willie Fay; his girlfriend of nine years: Patricia Steinmetz of Taunton, MA; a sister in law: Betsy Salmond of Martha’s Vineyard; and Richard Fay (Kerri Fay’s father). Robert was also the brother of the late Beverley Frain and Douglas Salmond.
Following cremation, Robert’s calling hours will be held on Thursday , November 19th from 6-9 P.M. in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. Interment will be private.
