Obituary

WORCESTER James Earl Acklin, 63 of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He was born in Huntsville, Alabama and was a son of the late Luther Carl Acklin and the late Joann Acklin.

He loved fishing and cooking and will be remembered for being an oldies DJ throughout Greater Lowell, Worcester, and the Boston areas. He was a man of many trades. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Boston.

He will be fondly remembered for his cooking ability, especially with seafood and his famous pancakes will never be forgotten. He was loved by many for all of the giving he did throughout his life, he will never be forgotten and will live in the hearts of those who loved him forever.

James is survived by his three beloved daughters, Tia Hunter of Boston, MA, Shalika Acklin of Georgia, and Gabrielle Rodriguez and her husband, Alex, of Dracut and also Larry Hunter of Georgia, Alonda Hunter of Boston, Valerie Hunter of Alabama, Charity Hunter of Boston, Marquis Hunter of Boston, his grandchildren, Aalayah Acklin, Isaiah, Jayden, Xavier, Majore and Kyroh Rodriguez, Shamae Bone, Derrick Foster.

He is also survived by the mothers of his daughters, Viola Hunter of Boston and Tammy Trainor of Kennebunk, Maine, Viola's sister, Molly Hayes and was also a friend of Bill Wilson for many years. He also leaves behind many dear friends, including, Germaine and Virginia.
