Gertrudes D. Fragoso, age 85, passed away on Nov. 4, 2020, at Noble Hospital. She was born on Nov. 17, 1934 in Ribeira da Maceira / Region of Alcobaca, Portugal, a daughter of the late Antonio Rodrigo and Maria Rodrigo - Antunes. Gertrudes worked for F.W. Sickles for many years before she retired. Gertrudes enjoyed spending time in her garden, baking and cooking, but mostly she loved being with her family. She is predeceased by her husband Manuel Fragoso who passed away in 2003 and also by her son Juventino Fragoso who passed away in 1999. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Teresa Costa and husband Mario of Chicopee, Paula Barone and her husband John of St. Augustine, FL and Edite Sheldon and her husband Steve of Westfield; 6 brothers, Manuel, Gabriel and Ray Rodrigo of Ludlow, Tony Rodrigo of Chicopee, Herman Rodrigo of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jack Rodrigo of Westfield; 3 sisters Maria Piedade and Arminda Pedro of Palm Coast FL, Edite Bernardes of Portugal; 12 beloved grandchildren, Jason Costa, Mark Costa and his wife Rebecca; Daniel Eutiquio and his wife Nicole, Amie Matos and her husband Anthony, Brittany Wolcott, Lilly-Ann Daugert and her husband John, Jennifer Costa, Angelina Trask, Michael Barone, Chelsea and Jessica Fragoso and Jesus Rodrigues. She also leaves 12 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Wednesday, November 11, 2020, from 8:30 – 10:30 AM at Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church at 11 AM.
