Rosa (Antonelli) Mastrocola, age 88, of Medford passed away on Wednesday, November 4th. Born and raised in Orsogna, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia (Magno) Antonelli. Rosa came to the U.S. at the age of 22, settling first in Boston’s North End before moving to Medford in 1968.
Rosa was employed for many years in the garment industry and was exceptional at sewing, needlework and embroidery. She loved to cook for her family, and was especially devoted to her son Johnny. Rosa was also her husband’s full-time caretaker for the last years of his life.
Rosa was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Mastrocola, and the devoted mother of Maria Damiano and her husband Nicolo of North Reading, and John Mastrocola of Malden. She was the loving grandmother of Laura Berkson and her husband Gary of Germantown, MD, Julia Damiano of N. Reading, and Kara Damiano and her Fiancé Guy Altobello of Medford. Rosa was the dear sister of the late Nicola and Gino Antonelli, and is survived by loving nieces and nephews.
A visiting hour will be held on Friday, November 13th from 10 AM through 11 AM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
