John Douglas Bryant, Jr., 96 of Anderson died November 1, 2020 at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson after an extended illness.
He was born June 26, 1924 in Bon Air, Tennessee, the son of John D. and Mollie (Whittaker) Bryant.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked 37 1/2 years in inspection at Guide Lamp before retiring in June of 1982.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 266 and United Auto Workers Local # 663. He loved antique cars, being a pilot and doing yard work.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys W. (Oliver) Bryant of Anderson whom he married July 1, 1947 in Rossville, Georgia; his son, John M. (Bonnie) Bryant; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Martin of Summitville; Jeff (Waylena)Bryant of Champaign, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Rae Martin and Rylie Nicole Martin; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bruce Allen Bryant and twelve siblings.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Loyce Webb officiating.
Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Daleville American Legion.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Diabetes Association.
