Taciana David Biton was called home to be with her Father on November 2, 2020.
Taciana was born on March 28, 1949 to Fulbert and Taciana David in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. She was the youngest of 11 and her siblings include Immacula David, Yvon David (deceased, 2018), Marie Christa Louisdhon, Ulrick David (deceased 2010) and Gloria David (deceased 1995). She was referred to as Titane by her family and Taci by her friends.
Titane migrated to the U.S. in the 70s where she fell in love and had her first born, Cassandre. For ten years, she was a single parent but never felt that burden because of the love and assistance of her family. In 1986, she fell in love again, got married and gave birth to Rachelle and Jude. Her children were her life but you can’t talk about Titane and not mention her grandchildren. These four little ladies were her WORLD. DiYannah, her first grandchild who literally waited for her grandma to walk through the delivery doors before making her debut. Gloria, who was named after Taciana’s favorite sister, was her boss. Addison, who is a spitting image of her father, Jude was her “Ti dezod” and recently added, Sydney, who she instantly fell in love with.
Titane was RESILIENT, see what some of you may not know is that she has shown us her strength REPEATEDLY. The first was with the birth of Jude where she spent 7 days in a coma, after undergoing an emergency C-Section. She suffered from Renal Failure in the late 90s, was on Dialysis for 5 years and sustained a kidney transplant for 17 years. She battled Alzheimer’s for the past 3 years and never once complained. She wore the BIGGEST SMILE and had the HAPPIEST FEET. She was always dancing, sometimes to the music in her head!
Titane was a SWEETHEART and literally made friends EVERYWHERE she went. She never left a room without putting a smile on everyone’s face. Even with her Alzheimer’s she knew she had friends everywhere, it was a BATTLE getting her to keep her mask on these last few months because every time she saw someone she would pull it down and go “you don’t remember me? I know you, you’re my friend.”
Titane was a protector, even at her weakness points. Always checking to see if everyone was ok, emotionally, medically and financially. I can remember the ambulance ride to BMC right before she was admitted, she looked at me and asked if I was ok and needed anything.
Titane was a DIVA and getting her ready to go to daycare was the highlight of my day. She had to be dressed to the 9 EVERYDAY. Wig combed out; earrings to match the necklace to match the clothing to compliment the shoes and you can’t forget how she would DROWN herself in perfume so you could smell her coming.
Titane was an UNFORGETTABLE woman. With her Alzheimer’s she may not have remembered your name but you could NEVER forget her presence.
I just want to thank God for the opportunity he gave us all by putting someone THIS amazing in our lives to show us that life isn’t about challenges and it isn't about pain. Life is about the amount of times you can dance through the challenges and smile through the pain.
