George Elton “Hoss” Reaves, Jr., 64, of Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Friday, November 6, 2020, at Salem Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with Dr. Brent Duncan and the Rev. Bill Tracy officiating. The family will receive friends 6 PM until 8 PM, Thursday November 5, 2020 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Reaves was born April 2, 1956, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late George Elton Reaves, Sr. & Bessie Lois Trawick Reaves. He was a 1974 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and later attended Ben Hill- Irwin Technical College. Mr. Reaves worked for CSX Railroad in maintenance of way. He enjoyed shooting birds and will be remembered for making the best homemade biscuits. Mr. Reaves was a member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra Ann Williamson Reaves of Ben Hill County; two sons: Brian Reaves and Will Reaves & Samantha; grandchildren: Elliot Carter Reaves and Ella Madelyn Reaves, who is due to arrive on Friday; three sisters: Mary & Bill Smathers of Slayden, Tennessee, Hazel & Curtis Brown of Wilcox County and Betty Jo & Wayne Adkinson of Rochelle and a brother, Johnny Reaves of Wilcox County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: James David Reaves, Roger Reaves and Billy Reaves and a sister, Karleen Reaves.
