SPRINGFIELD – Edward J. “Ed” Cooley, 69, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 1, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on November 1, 1951, a beloved son of the late Raymond E. and Beatrice E. (Rattelle) Cooley. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Trade High School, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was currently employed at DFF Corporation in Agawam. He previously was employed as a printer for over 39 years, working at Monarch Life Insurance, General Offset, Lithochrome, Sterling Press, and Bassett Printers. Eddie was a former member of the Mawaga Sportsmens Club, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, and the Ball and Chain 10 Pin Bowling League. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, and Montreal Canadians fan, and enjoyed NASCAR. He enjoyed fishing, playing ping pong and pool, and riding his Yamaha and his Harley. Although he was a quiet man, known as a man of few words, he touched the lives of all who met him. He was a hard worker and took pride in providing for his family and instilling many values. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Linda E. (Ugolini) Cooley. They were married on September 10, 1977 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 43 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving daughters, Andrea M. Metzger and her husband, William Metzger, of Westfield, and Michelle L. Lepore and her husband, Guy, of Bay Shore, Long Island, NY; his five cherished grandchildren, twins, Sadie and Sydney Strom, Arlo Metzger, and Charlie and Camryn Lepore; his dear sister-in-law, Carolyn Russell and her husband, James, of West Springfield; his siblings, Curtis Johnson, Chip Johnson, and Karen Fergusson; and his two special nieces, Karen Russell and her family and Christine Bisl and her husband, Helmut, and their family; his nephews, cousins, extended family members, and numerous friends. His family will receive friends on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 1:15 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial will be private.
