New Bedford – Maria E. (Palheiro) Farpea, age 83, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio A. Farpea.
Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores she was the daughter of the late Jacinto deSousa Palheiro and Filomena daGloria deMederios (Ruimondo) Palheiro. Maria had been a stitcher for Alco Dress Co. for many years. She loved to sew and most importantly, loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Ana Clapper and her husband Kevin and Filomena Brandao; her son, Michael Farpea and his companion Sue Moniz; grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Ryan, Brittany, Lauren and Brady; brother, Manuel Sousa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Manuel Farpea.
Maria’s visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening, November 4, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to practice social distancing of 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
